Dr. Trujillo has over fifteen years of experience in community health addressing health disparities in medically underserved areas. Her many years of relationship building with community leaders, non-profits, schools, places of worship, local government, and philanthropic groups has supported her visionary leadership.
Dr. Trujillo's passion for working with vulnerable populations began in her high school years volunteering at the original Ripley House in the 1990s in Houston's East End. Dr. Trujillo's passion for working with vulnerable populations began in her high school years volunteering at the original Ripley House in the 1990s in Houston's East End. During her early college years, she dedicated many volunteer hours to serving her own community of Spring Branch by volunteering at her church, leading English and Citizenship classes.
In 2002, her passion for community advocacy drove her to become a founding board member of a faith based charity clinic in Spring Branch. Her and other community leaders spent countless hours planning the opening of a medical clinic serving pregnant women with limited English proficiency and no health coverage. The medical clinic opened its doors in May 2004 providing women's health services and most importantly prenatal care.

Dr. Trujillo is the CEO of the Spring Branch Community Health Center which is the original faith based charity clinic she helped found back in 2002. In 2007, she was the youngest Federally Qualified Health Center CEO in the State of Texas at the age of 27. As the CEO, she is responsible for leading strategic planning in partnership with the Board, delivering high quality patient care, leading a team of high performers while creating a positive culture, delivering strong financial performance, building partner relationships, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies. Dr. Trujillo leads 275 full time employees and manages a budget of $32 million serving more than 20,000 individual patients.
Prior to this employment Dr. Trujillo held similar community building positions in an urban planning firm, non-profits
and city government.
Dr. Trujillo holds a BBA from the University of Houston with a double major in Finance & Marketing and a minor in Italian Studies.
She obtained her MBA in International Business with a concentration in finance from Our Lady of the Lake University and most recently earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center-School of Public Health.
Dr. Trujillo truly understands the healthcare and social service needs of vulnerable populations, having experienced similar challenges as a child. She experienced medical tourism at an early age driving to the Mexican border city of Matamoros for medical and dental care. Her passion for increasing health access will allow all families
to live healthier lives in their own community. Dr. Trujillo also enjoys mentoring first generation students interested in obtaining a higher education. She is the Founding Member of the Spring Branch Leadership Institute with a mission of building the next generation of healthcare leaders representing communities of color.
Dr. Trujillo is a first generation American in her family. She was born to Mexican and Colombian immigrant parents living all of her life in the community of Spring Branch in Northwest Houston, Texas. She attended public schools in Spring Branch ISD and her mother's family rule of only speaking Spanish at home deepened her roots in the Hispanic culture ensuring her fluency in Español.
